Which tool, when

  • Lovable: full apps with login and a database

    Best when your site needs accounts, saved data or payments. It sets up Supabase for you. Describe the app in plain English, then refine page by page.

  • v0: beautiful pages and components

    Best for landing pages and UI that should look polished. Great for "make this section look like X". Deploys straight to Vercel.

  • Bolt: quick prototypes in the browser

    Best for trying an idea in an afternoon. Good for small tools and demos; move to something sturdier once it grows.

  • Framer: marketing sites you edit visually

    Best when you want to drag things around yourself after AI generates a first draft, and don't need a database.

  • Claude or ChatGPT: thinking partner

    Best for planning, writing copy, explaining errors, and turning a messy idea into a clear brief before you open any builder.

Common errors & fixes

The page is blank after I deploy

Usually a missing environment variable. Copy every variable from your local .env file into the hosting dashboard (e.g. Vercel → Settings → Environment Variables), then redeploy.

"Invalid API key" or "JWT" errors from Supabase

You pasted the wrong key or it has a space at the end. Re-copy the URL and publishable key from Supabase → Project Settings → API Keys.

The AI keeps breaking things that used to work

Ask for one change at a time, and say "do not change anything else". If it goes badly, roll back to the last working version instead of asking it to fix its fix.

Login emails never arrive

Check spam first. Supabase's built-in email sender is limited to a few emails per hour; for real users, connect a sender like Resend in Supabase → Authentication → Emails.

Images don't show on the live site

The file path is case-sensitive online: "Logo.PNG" and "logo.png" are different. Rename files to lowercase with no spaces and update the links.
